The Killeen Economic Development Corporation provided an update at City Hall on Tuesday focused on changes to the Killeen Business Park and the corporation’s increased marketing efforts.
Tyler Robert, the corporation’s vice president, discussed various changes and developments at the park.
“We actually have some new tenants,” he said.
Those tenants include St. Michael’s Learning Academy, a vocational school, and Killeen Wholesale Supply, a convenience store supplier.
Other businesses in the park such as Workspace USA, which rents office space, and Dongjin Semichem Texas, a chemical manufacturer, continue to grow. Robert estimated that Dongjin Semichem would add about a dozen staff members and reach full production by early 2026.
Other projects — such as USAMM, an armed forces store, and BlueAcre Development, a real estate developer — have their buildings underway. USAMM is supposed to open next month, while the office being built by BlueAcre will not be completed for roughly 12 to 16 months, according to Robert.
The corporation is also in the early stages of development on Wolf Technology Park, a nearly 100-acre development being built in south Killeen near Texas A&M University-Central Texas.
The Killeen EDC is also working to improve its communications and marketing. Robert mentioned that there has been an uptick of articles about it by KDH News and the Austin Business Journal.
The Killeen EDC also hosted an economic development luncheon last month and is planning an economic summit in early 2026.
Speaking about public engagement, Robert said, “We’re always looking for more.”
It has also been developing a new website with tools for small and mid-sized enterprises. Robert said the new website will be a streamlined, current-generation site.
Other marketing efforts have included a new quarterly newsletter and Robert recently participated in a panel discussion held by the Central Texas Community Arts & Music Initiative.
Robert is, at least for now, the highest ranking economic development corporation official in Killeen. Bear Albrecht, the most-recent president of the Killeen Economic Development Corporation, recently resigned. The EDC also recently added a new economic development coordinator.
